Learning Profile

The themes of the things that we learned in the class were common to the effect that they taught us how to be better students in a whole meaning that they taught you what to do and what not to do on a majority of different levels. The things we learned in this class from the text were things that you can apply to everyday life and take with you throughout your life to not only better yourself but also to better others around you that have not yet learned some of the traits and characteristics that you have learned throught the completion of this course. For example one of the texts that we read in this class was the exerpt called shame by dick gregory. In this text their message the message to me was that no matter what you have or what you dont have be proud of it and cherish it because there is always someone who is less fortunate than you are and does not hav nearly as much as you do and that person is learning to get through life just fine with out the luxuries that you have even if that luxury is a simple shirt on your back and ckothes in your clloset there is someone els out there eho does not have but one shirt that they use every day. So in my mind the moral was be thankful.
As a learner i feel that when it comes to having to put things on paper and working by myself I am very efficient. AS a youngster i was taught how to express myself on paper and i was always pushed to read many things and then aftrewards to write on it and express my opinions about the subject. In a way this prepared me fro writing papers on many levels. In fact in eight grade I was so efficient at writing and expressing myself on paper that my teacher believed my mother was writing my assignments and had me write an assignment in class to prove that i was in fact writing my own work. So when it comes to my strong point, I am very good at expressing what i feel and writing to persuade you to ffeel the exact way i feel and if i do not persuade you, you at least feel where i am coming from. this has always been a great hobby of mine in fact i write poems for fun and to realease stress. When I am going through something I write to let go of what I am feeling and to just release whatever is stressing me out. so to me as a learner I feel that my string point is writing, problem solving, and working by myself which i love to do because I have to depend on me.
As a learner in my opinion I have few weak points because i catch on very quickly and I have the ability to get things done very quickly. Although all of this is true there is one thing that bothers me that I hope to improve upon and that is the ability to work in a group and actually lead the group without going off on my own an doing my own thing and just incorporating it into what the group is doing in the end. I have a problem ith working with a group. This is mainly because i like things to go like i plan them I really hate the idea of having to depend on someone else to get things done so it looks good. I would much rather do all the work even if it is a lot just because I know that it will a ll get done and if I miss something I know who to blame ME and not anyon else. As a learner I would very much like to learn how to improve my group working skills because in some instances you cannot do everything for yourself and you need otheres to help you accomplish certain goals that you set. So in Conclusion I feelk that as a learner the main thing I am weakest in is the ability to work well with others without withdrawing from the group and going off and doing my own thing.
The main thing that i learned in this course was how to navigate my way throught the Butler website and how to do a plethora of different things wtithin the butler database. I hink the main thing that I learned that i will be carrying woth me from this course woulde be how to use the elibrary. Mainly this is because I am a student athlete so my schedule does not allow me much free time during the day to get to the library and actually do research to make significant progress in whatever I am doing ecspecially during season. So the elibrary is a perfect compiment to that. because i can go on here whenever and do research that otherwise i would be incapable of getting around to do because of my busy schedule. So the elibrary really helps me with my time managemnt issues as well so that I can keep a certain order to the things that I do froma day to day basis.In conclusion the main thing that i will take away from this class and probably on to my four year instituion would be the ability to navigate my way through a schools website and learning the ins and outs of that website so that I would be more efficient in succeeding with my academics.
The assignments used in this course were very relevent seeing as this course is a basically a student orientation course that seeks to help freshmen student gain a beeter understanding of how college works and hellp them get on their feet.
As alearner I feel that this course wa very relevent and work relevantly good althougth it is the middle of the year when this course starts so the things taught can only be puto use during the second semster that is the only drawback other than that this course is very good for first year students.
To survive and flourush in this cousre it is best that the student learns to do their work and just take each day one a time doing the work the day it is given and not procrastinating.
As an after ffect after taking this class I will be more efficient with my scooling and with everyday life learning to apply what i know to what I am doing on a regular consistent basis
